Don serves as the only Northside representative on the City’s Community Development Committee. Don co–authored the Northside Housing Moratorium, saving Northside neighborhoods from unethical and opportunistic developers. He has since forged relationships with reputable private developers like the Ackerberg Group and non Profits like the Pohlad Foundation, GMHC and Catalyst, who are investing millions in North Minneapolis and providing quality, neighborhood-friendly affordable housing and jobs for unprecedented levels of minority construction workers and contractors. He championed the CPED Northside Home Fund Cluster Project to revitalize 8 Northside block clusters, and was instrumental in securing many millions of dollars in response to the current foreclosure crisis.
